Redford Service Learning Academy was originally opened under the name Detroit West Preparatory Academy. Elite School management was brought in for the 2014-15 school. The name of the school was changed to Redford Service Learning Academy and is chartered by Lake Superior State University.  Elite was able to oversee immediate growth in enrollment from 275 students during the 2013-14 school year to 425 students only 3 months later for the 2014-15 school year. Since Elite has taken over management of Redford Service Learning Academy there has been continued academic growth each year while retaining a high number of students enrolled.
